Last October Wes Anderson debuted an 8-minute short film called Castello Cavalcanti at the Rome Film Festival. Fitting since Prada put the money up for the short and it was shot at the famed Italian movie studio Cinecittà. The movie is set in 1955 and features Jason Schwartzman in what amounts to a solo performance with some background Italian extras (though the sensual bartender that he is drawn to is played by none other than Giada Colagrande, who is married to the Willem Defoe).
If you are a fan of Anderson’s you will most likely enjoy this little slice of happy accident-ism…and if you are a fan of Federico Fellini you will enjoy seeing the American director spend a few minutes aping his work. Watch the film below and watch the trailer for Anderson’s upcoming film, The Grand Budapest Hotel here.
